Robert Redford | Born 1936

American actor, director, and activist Robert Redford started his career on stage in the late 1950s. Several years later, his TV career began in 1960, including an appearance on The Twilight Zone. Redford earned an Emmy nomination for his supporting role in The Voice of Charlie Pont. He achieved great success on Broadway in Neil Simmons’ Barefoot in the Park in 1963. Redford starred in films War Hunt, Inside Daisy Clover, Jeremiah Johnson, and others.

The actor then pursued a career in directing movies in the 1980s, starting with Ordinary People, which became one of the most publicly and critically acclaimed films of that decade. The film won four Oscar Awards and an Academy Award—a great investment planning in his career, indeed.
